US Bars African Soccer Official from Entering Country for World Cup

Award-winning Somali referee Omar Artan, poised to make history as the first from his nation to oversee a World Cup match, was barred from entering the United States, according to a sports ministry official who spoke on Monday.
nCiise Aden Abshir, a senior advisor to Somalia's Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, condemned the decision, stating that denying Omar Artan entry to the US and preventing him from refereeing scheduled matches not only harms him personally but also compromises football's core values of fairness, merit, and fair play.
