Urgent Plea: Relatives of Mary Habila Appeal to Inspector General of Police, Seek Return of Remains for Funeral Proceedings

Tanko Habila, the father of the late Miss Mary Habila, a nurse who lost her life at the residence of the Minister of Works, has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police, seeking the release of his daughter's remains for a proper burial.

Accompanied by his wife, other family members, and their legal representatives, Habila presented his petition at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, after which he addressed members of the press.

In a display of emotional distress, the grieving father conveyed his deep sadness that, nearly two weeks after his daughter's passing, the Ebonyi State Police Command still refused to release her body for burial.

Habila emphasized that the family had no interest in pursuing an autopsy, underscoring their desire to lay his daughter to rest.

He poignantly stated, "As we stand here, a person can suddenly fall and pass away, which is what happened, and all we are asking for now is to be able to bury her body."
