University of Jos delays tests due to armed assailants' assault on nearby neighborhood

The University of Jos has announced a postponement of all examinations initially set for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in response to a series of fatal attacks by unknown gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba, a neighborhood that is home to many of the institution's staff and students, which occurred on the late evening of the preceding days.

A security advisory, issued by Deputy Registrar of Information and Public Relations Emmanuel Madugu on behalf of the Registrar, conveyed the Vice Chancellor's directive to reschedule the affected examinations, citing the heightened tensions in and around the area as a result of the attacks.

The attacks have created an atmosphere of unease, prompting the university to issue a statement advising its community members to exercise extreme caution and vigilance in their movements, effective immediately, both on and off campus.

Community members have been specifically warned to avoid early morning outings and to promptly report any signs of potential disturbances to the University Security Division, as part of the institution's efforts to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
