United Arab Emirates imposes restrictions on citizens traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq
The United Arab Emirates foreign ministry made a significant announcement on Thursday, imposing a travel ban on Emirati citizens traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq, in response to the evolving situation in the region, including the ongoing Middle East war.
nThis decision comes on the heels of Iran's repeated targeting of the Gulf nation during the Middle East conflict, which was sparked by a US-Israeli attack and has only recently been halted by a fragile ceasefire, with Iran launching missiles at civilian and energy infrastructure.
nA statement released by the state news agency WAM outlined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' decision, stating that "In light of current regional developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces a travel ban on UAE nationals travelling to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lebanese Republic, and the Republic of Iraq".
nThe ministry has urged all UAE citizens currently residing in these countries to "expedite their immediate return" to the United Arab Emirates, as reported by the state news agency WAM.
