Ukraine Rejects Claim of Iranian Attack on Drone Defense Storage Facility in the United Arab Emirates

Ukraine's government categorically denied Iran's claim of having attacked a depot in the UAE that housed Ukrainian anti-drone systems, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhy labeling the assertion a deliberate falsehood.

Tykhy further emphasized that Tehran has a history of disseminating misleading information, and this latest statement is merely another example of such a tactic.

Ukraine has been swiftly providing its expertise in countering drones to Gulf nations, expertise that was honed while defending against Iranian-designed drones deployed by Russia.

This rapid expansion of Ukrainian anti-drone capabilities into the Gulf region comes as these countries face increasing attacks from Iran, prompting a concerted effort to bolster their defenses.

In a statement broadcast on state television, Iran's central military command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, claimed to have destroyed a depot in the UAE that was allegedly used to support US military operations.

According to the statement, the targeted depot was said to be located in Dubai and was intended to aid American forces, with the Iranian military also claiming to have targeted the hideouts of US commanders and soldiers in the city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during an unannounced visit to the Gulf, announced that Kyiv and Abu Dhabi had reached an agreement on defense cooperation, marking a significant development in their bilateral relations.

Later the same day, Qatar announced its own cooperation agreement with Ukraine, further expanding the scope of Ukrainian involvement in regional defense efforts.

Additionally, Ukraine and Saudi Arabia signed an air defense agreement during Zelensky's visit to the kingdom, as confirmed by two senior officials on Friday.

Earlier in the month, Zelensky had revealed that 201 Ukrainian anti-drone military experts were either already in the Middle East or en route to the region to provide assistance to the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

These developments come as Iran continues to launch strikes against Israeli and US interests in the Gulf, attacks that began on February 28 and have been ongoing since.

Iran's accusations against its Gulf neighbors, alleging that they allow US forces to conduct attacks from their territory, have been consistently denied by these countries, both before and after the start of the conflict.
