UCL: Rooney cautions Arsenal to delay title celebrations until they've secured the win

Wayne Rooney has expressed his discontent with the manner in which Arsenal celebrated their Champions League semi-final triumph over Atletico Madrid, citing that the team's enthusiasm was somewhat premature. The first leg, which took place in Spain, had concluded with a 1-1 draw, leaving the outcome of the tie hanging in the balance prior to the return match, and ultimately, Arsenal's aggregate win propelled them forward.

Arsenal must now await the outcome of the other semi-final showdown between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, with the second leg of this fixture slated to take place on Wednesday.

Upon the final whistle, the Emirates Stadium erupted in a frenzy of celebration, with players lingering on the pitch to bask in the electric atmosphere alongside ecstatic supporters.

However, the exuberant scenes that unfolded drew criticism from certain quarters, including some rival fans, with Wayne Rooney being among those who felt that the celebrations had gone too far.

In an interview with Prime Video, Rooney offered his assessment, stating, "They haven’t won it yet," and further elaborating that, "I believe the celebrations are a bit too intense."

Rooney did, however, concede that Arsenal had indeed earned the right to celebrate, qualifying his remarks by saying, "Celebrate when you win… but no, they have earned it."
