The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two students of the Federal University, Otuoke, alongside one other suspect, for their alleged involvement in a disturbing case of assault, cyberbullying, and forceful abduction.
One of the suspects, identified as Kadi, was reportedly apprehended with two accomplices following an investigation launched after videos of the incident circulated online, drawing widespread condemnation.
According to police authorities, the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. They are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
The incident, which sparked outrage on social media, has raised renewed concerns about the rise of cyberbullying, peer violence, and the misuse of digital platforms among young people. Civil society groups have called for stronger measures to curb such behavior, particularly within academic communities.
In a statement, the Bayelsa State Police Command assured the public of its commitment to delivering justice in the case, while also pledging to intensify efforts to protect citizens and uphold law and order across the state.
Authorities further urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any criminal activities to security agencies for swift action.
