Trump suggests negotiations with Iran may result in either an agreement or renewed military action

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump revealed that negotiations with Tehran were delicately poised, hovering between a potential agreement to bring an end to the conflict in the Middle East and a resumption of military strikes against Iran.

Since announcing the suspension of renewed attacks on Monday to allow time for diplomatic efforts, Trump has sent mixed signals, oscillating between expressing optimism about the possibility of a deal and issuing threats of further action.

When questioned by reporters at Joint Base Andrews near Washington about the status of talks with Iran, Trump responded by saying, "It's right on the borderline, believe me."

Trump cautioned that if the negotiations do not yield satisfactory outcomes, the situation could escalate rapidly, stating, "If we don't get the right answers, it goes very quickly," and emphasizing that the US is fully prepared to take action.

Trump stressed the importance of receiving "100 percent good answers" from Iran, highlighting that a successful deal would conserve "a lot of time, energy and lives" and could potentially be achieved "very quickly, or (in) a few days).

This week, Trump disclosed that he had been on the verge of ordering the resumption of strikes on Iran, merely an hour away from doing so, but had postponed the attack planned for Tuesday at the behest of Gulf states.
