President Donald Trump informed key congressional leaders on Friday that the conflict with Iran had ceased, following intense scrutiny from lawmakers to obtain formal approval for the ongoing hostilities, which were approaching their third month.
nIn a letter addressed to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate president pro tempore Chuck Grassley, Trump stated that there had been no clashes between US forces and Iran since April 7, 2026.
nThe president's assertion was based on the fact that no exchange of fire had occurred between the two sides for nearly a month, with the conflict initially erupting on February 28, 2026.
nTrump explicitly declared in his correspondence that the hostilities, which began on February 28, 2026, had officially come to an end, as evidenced by the lack of fighting since early April.
