Trump claims Iran has breached truce in key shipping lane near Hormuz Strait

US negotiators are set to arrive in Pakistan on Monday to revive talks aimed at ending the conflict with Iran, according to President Donald Trump, who also reiterated his threat to target the country's power plants and bridges if a deal is not reached.

Trump made the comments in a social media post on Sunday, in which he also accused Iran of breaching their two-week ceasefire with a series of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.

The President stated that he is offering Iran a "reasonable deal", warning that if it is refused, the United States will take drastic action, saying "the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran.

Trump emphasized that Iran's bridges and power plants would be quickly and easily destroyed if a deal is not agreed upon, saying "They'll come down fast, they'll come down easy and, if they dont take the DEAL, it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years."

The Strait of Hormuz remained closed on Sunday, following Iran's decision to shut it again to shipping after a brief reopening on Friday.

The US-Iran ceasefire is due to expire on Wednesday, and Iran has stated that it will not reopen the strait until the US lifts its blockade of Iranian ports.

Trump condemned Iran's actions on Saturday, writing "Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz — A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement!"

Three incidents occurred in the strait on Saturday, highlighting the risks of attempting to cross the waterway, including an attack by Iran's Revolutionary Guards on a tanker and a threat to "destroy" an empty cruise ship.

A UK maritime security agency also reported a vessel being hit by an unknown projectile, resulting in damage to shipping containers, but no fire.
