Troops repel bandits’ attack on construction workers in Kebbi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attack by suspected bandits on construction workers at Tsatsunbe village in Southern Kebbi State, rescuing the workers and recovering three motorcycles abandoned by the attackers.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 14, 2026, following a tip-off about an attack on the workers by the terrorists.

The spokesman for the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed this to our correspondent on Saturday.

Osoba said the troops responded swiftly to the distress call and engaged the attackers with superior firepower.

According to him, the troops’ response forced the bandits to withdraw from the area in disarray.

“On 14 August 2026, troops, following a tip-off on a bandits’ attack on construction workers at Tsatsunbe village in Southern Kebbi, launched a swift counter-attack on the terrorists,” he said.

He added that the troops subsequently conducted an exploitation of the area, during which three motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing attackers were recovered.

“Accordingly, troops engaged the bandits with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray. During exploitation, troops recovered three abandoned motorcycles,” Osoba said.

The Army spokesman further said the construction workers, who had sought refuge in the bushes during the attack, were safely rescued by the troops.

“The construction workers were safely rescued from the bushes and have returned to their camp,” he added.

The operation, according to the Army, was conducted under Operation Clean Sweep IV, as troops continue efforts to protect communities, workers and critical infrastructure from attacks by criminal elements in the region.
