Troops of Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma have intensified coordinated military operations against terrorist enclaves across Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi States, successfully neutralising several bandits and dismantling criminal networks in the North-West.
In Sokoto State, soldiers of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII engaged terrorists in two encounters at Magonho Forest on March 25, eliminating three bandits and recovering three AK-47 rifles and motorcycles.
In Zamfara State, troops executed an ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari Village road, neutralising two terrorists and recovering weapons, ammunition, a communication radio, mobile phones, and a motorcycle used by fleeing insurgents. Later, a retaliatory attack on Kaida Village was repelled, with another terrorist neutralised and an AK-47 rifle seized. A clearance mission in Dutsi Village, Zurmi Local Government Area, forced terrorists to abandon weapons, including one AK-47 rifle and 26 rounds of ammunition.
In Kebbi State, troops acting on intelligence moved to Giron Masa community in Shanga Local Government Area following reports of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group. Despite encountering an ambush by fleeing terrorists, the troops pressed on, with reinforcements deployed to sustain the operation.
Military authorities confirmed that intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track and neutralise fleeing terrorists, stressing that the Nigerian Army remains committed to dominating the operational environment, degrading terrorist capabilities, and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across the North-West.
The Army stated that troop morale remains high, highlighting their courage, professionalism, and dedication in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s strategic directives to restore peace and stability in the region.
