“Trapped” mirrors my feelings of betrayal, pressure — Diva Gold

Actress Diva Gold has revealed that her new movie “Trapped” is deeply rooted in her personal experiences, saying the film mirrors her struggles with betrayal, pressure, and expectations within Nollywood.

Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, the actress said the project was emotionally intense because it reflects parts of her real-life journey in the industry.

“I feel like I didn’t even express myself enough, how I really feel behind closed doors in my room when I’m by myself, but in summary, yes, very deeply. One reason Trapped felt personal to me is because I could emotionally relate to the feeling of being trapped, whether by pressure, fear, betrayal, or expectations,” she said.

She added that several scenes in the film were inspired by her lived experiences.

“Some scenes were emotionally intense because they reflected emotions I’ve genuinely experienced in life and in the industry. I understand what it feels like to fight silently while still trying to remain strong publicly. That emotional connection helped me bring honesty and vulnerability into the character,” she added.

Diva Gold also spoke about her struggles in Nollywood, revealing experiences of being sidelined and emotionally tested.

“Yes recently it’s well, but I think every growing actor in Nollywood experiences moments where they feel overlooked, underestimated, or intentionally sidelined. There were times I question myself, especially when opportunities disappear without explanation,” she said.

She further admitted to encountering industry politics and betrayal.

“Yes, I have experienced situations where I felt blocked or undermined… sometimes it comes from people you respect or genuinely support,” she said.
