The leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo or GOC, made a rare public appearance in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, today.
During his visit, Tompolo paid a courtesy call on former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at his Yenagoa residence. He also took time to inspect the ongoing construction of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide National Secretariat, located in the Bayelsa State capital.
Reliable sources revealed that the Secretariat project, which was initially initiated under the leadership of Jonathan Lokpobiri, has now been taken over by Tompolo to ensure its speedy completion as part of his renewed commitment to the Ijaw cause and regional development.
Tompolo was accompanied by several prominent Niger Delta leaders and stakeholders, including:
