Tinubu's ministers plagued by anxiety following surprise cabinet dismissals

Ministers in President Bola Tinubu's administration are reportedly seized by apprehension after the recent dismissal of several colleagues, sparking a sense of unease among cabinet members.
nThe President's decision to relieve Mr Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, of their duties on Tuesday has sent shockwaves through the government.
nPrior to the sackings, criticism had been mounting in certain circles that some ministers were not contributing meaningfully to the administration, with some being likened to "square pegs in round holes".
nAllegations had also surfaced that certain political appointees lacked the necessary expertise to effectively implement President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda across various ministries, departments, and agencies.
nA minister who visited the Presidential Villa on Wednesday jokingly remarked to journalists, "There is an earthquake going on; everyone is in panic mode now", highlighting the tense atmosphere within the government.
nThe President received praise on Tuesday for the minor cabinet reshuffle, but was also cautioned that some ministers needed to be either relieved of their positions or reassigned to roles where they could be more effective in serving the government and society.
nA source from the presidency noted, "The President means well for this country, but some appointees appear bereft of ideas on how to translate policies into reality".
nA notable example of a key ministry is the power sector, which is crucial to economic development, yet Nigerians have expressed frustration that the power situation has actually deteriorated.
