Tinubu’s Group to Atiku: Leave foreign interference, campaign on policies

The Deputy National Leader (Southeast) of the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to focus on convincing Nigerians about his plans for the country rather than seeking foreign intervention in Nigeria’s political affairs.

Ngoforo made the call shortly after the flag-off of RHGN’s campaign activities for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday.

He argued that seeking external influence in domestic political matters could portray a presidential aspirant as unwilling to face democratic competition.

According to him, any candidate seeking to govern Nigeria should focus on convincing Nigerian voters by presenting credible alternatives to the government’s approach to the country’s economic, security and developmental challenges.

“If Atiku believes Nigerians do not want Tinubu, he should go to Nigerians and persuade them. If he believes Tinubu is legally unqualified, he should make his case under Nigerian law,” Ngoforo said.

He urged Nigerians to reject political strategies that could expose the country’s electoral process to what he described as undue external influence.

Ngoforo also called on voters to support Tinubu based on what he described as the administration’s record and ongoing development agenda, while urging RHGN members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation nationwide.

He said the 2027 general election should provide Nigerians with an opportunity to exercise their sovereignty by choosing their president through the country’s democratic process.

“The Nigerian President will not be elected in an American school, lobbying office or courtroom; he will be elected by Nigerians, on Nigerian soil, through the Nigerian ballot.

“If there is a question about a Nigerian election, take it to the Nigerian courts and allow Nigerian law to determine it,” Ngoforo said.
