Tinubu's case for a second term, Tunji-Ojo's potential gubernatorial bid in Ondo state

Recently, President Tinubu approved a significant financial intervention for the power sector, the Presidential Power Sector Debt Reduction Programme, which authorizes up to N4 trillion in government-backed bonds to settle verified legacy arrears owed to Power Generation Companies and gas suppliers.

The initial disbursements included a bond tranche valued at 590 billion naira and around 501 billion naira in initial cash payments, while the second tranche will roll out a bond worth about 729 billion naira to further settle legacy debts and restore liquidity to the grid.

These critical reforms necessitate the current government's continued oversight, and Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo should replicate his achievements in the Ministry of Interior in Ondo State, making him an ideal candidate to lead the state after the present administration's tenure.

As an engineer, philanthropist, and politician, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has a proven track record, having served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and been appointed Minister of Interior by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023.

Under his leadership, the Ministry of Interior, which oversees the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Federal Fire Service, has undergone significant reforms over the past three years, earning Dr Tunji-Ojo numerous awards and recognition.
