Tinubu Travels to Ogun, Inaugurates Airport and Airline, Among Various Development Initiatives

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to arrive in Ogun State on Saturday for an official visit, during which he will commission and inspect a range of landmark projects that underscore the state's push for infrastructural growth, economic expansion, and enhanced service delivery.

According to Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President's schedule is designed to showcase strategic investments across key sectors, highlighting the state's commitment to development.

The commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu is a major highlight of the visit, as it aims to establish Ogun State as a major aviation and logistics hub in Nigeria, with President Tinubu also set to commission two new aircraft under Gateway Air.

Within the airport complex, a cargo operations showcase facilitated by SAHCOL will demonstrate the airport's readiness for large-scale logistics and freight activities, further emphasizing its economic potential.

The President will also commission several strategic assets at the airport, including 1,000 electric bikes, 80 security vehicles, and a fleet of agricultural tractors, which will support the state's EV mobility initiative, enhance safety, and boost food production.

Beyond the airport, President Tinubu will commission the Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road, a vital link that will connect the new aviation hub to surrounding communities and improve accessibility.

The visit will also feature the inspection and commissioning of the Gateway Aviation Village, a development designed to support the state's growing aviation ecosystem, as well as the inspection of the Nigeria Customs Service Village and the commissioning of the Forward Operating Base building.

In a symbolic move, the President will commission the reconstructed "Old Ibadan Road", now officially named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway, which is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and commerce in the region.

The visit will conclude with the inspection of the Sagamu–Benin Concrete Road, a major federal infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation efficiency along one of Nigeria's busiest corridors.

These projects reflect the vision of the Ogun State Government under Dapo Abiodun to build a modern, economically vibrant, and well-connected state, with the President's visit reinforcing the synergy between federal and state governments in driving sustainable development.
