Ambassador Ibrahim, who is also the chairman of the UN Budget Committee, revealed this information on Wednesday after meeting with President Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja, stating that the President has agreed to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the assembly, President Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a high-profile speech on Nigeria's reform successes, with Ambassador Ibrahim confirming that the speech will take place in September, allowing Nigeria to be effectively represented at the UNGA.

In addition to his main address, President Tinubu will also attend select side events, including those focused on power generation, education, and hospital management, although Ambassador Ibrahim noted that they will avoid overloading the President's itinerary with too many events.

The side events will cover critical domestic priorities, such as issues related to energy and power generation, as well as education and hospital management, with Ambassador Ibrahim stating that these events will be carefully selected to ensure the President's schedule is not crowded.

Of particular regional significance is President Tinubu's commitment to strengthening border security across West Africa, with the President pledging to work closely with the United Nations on border policing to address the issue of porous borders and cross-border threats.

Ambassador Ibrahim stated that the President reiterated his commitment to border policing, emphasizing the need for cooperation with the United Nations to address the challenges facing West Africa, with a focus on putting in place effective measures to tackle cross-border crime.

The President has given specific directives on how to proceed with border policing, with Ambassador Ibrahim assuring that the President will put in a lot of effort to ensure that West African countries receive the necessary support for effective border policing.

Ambassador Ibrahim also hinted at a potential meeting between President Tinubu and US President Donald Trump during the General Assembly, although he did not confirm whether the two leaders would meet, stating only that President Tinubu will be seated very close to President Trump in the front row during the General Debate.
