Tinubu reassures monarchs: Nigeria's oneness remains unwavering, do not lose faith

President Bola Tinubu reassured Nigerians on Monday night that the nation will not be swayed by agents of instability, and will instead maintain its peace, unity, and sovereignty. This assurance was given during an interfaith breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he acknowledged the crucial role of religious and traditional leaders in promoting peace and stability within their communities.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu stated that despite the challenges posed by terrorists, the country will not be intimidated, saying "Yes, we are challenged; the terrorists are very desperate now because they are getting barraged and defeated, they leave trails of blood in their wake.

"But I assure you of one thing: Nigeria will never surrender," President Tinubu said, emphasizing the country's determination to overcome its challenges and emerge victorious.

President Tinubu also expressed his commitment to building on the opportunity to lead the country, with a focus on sustaining economic growth and prosperity, saying "I am just grateful, one person among millions, that I have been given the opportunity to serve.

He reported that the economy has shown significant improvement, stating "I can report that the economy has turned the corner, it is getting better, pensioners are getting their relief gradually, we have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy.

President Tinubu noted that the initial challenges faced by his administration have been overcome, saying "It was very daunting and challenging when we took over, but today I can say with pride and joy that we have survived.

No governor in the country is currently struggling to borrow money to pay workers' salaries, according to President Tinubu, who said "No governor in this country is running around the banks to borrow money to pay the salaries of their workers.

President Tinubu reiterated his administration's commitment to investing in critical sectors such as agriculture and education, with the goal of leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that his administration is dedicated to building a safer, more secure, and prosperous nation for all, saying "I can assure you that we are going to win and win well.

In his remarks, the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for hosting the interfaith breaking of the fast, which symbolizes unity, and prayed for God's guidance, protection, and peaceful coexistence in the country.

The Etsu Nupe represented the President, the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa`ad Abubakar, at the event.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, representing Dr Stephen Baba-Panya, President of The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), assured President Tinubu of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)'s support for the administration's efforts to transform the economy and strengthen the country's security architecture.

Traditional rulers and religious leaders from the six geo-political zones of the country were in attendance at the event.
