Tinubu mourns with Olubadan, Makinde over Oloye Alabi’s death

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the passing of Oloye Lekan Alabi, a veteran journalist and public relations icon, on Saturday in Lagos at the age of 76.

Oloye Alabi was a prominent figure within Nigeria’s traditional institution, holding the esteemed title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, one of the high chiefs in the ancient city.

President Tinubu remarked: “Oloye Alabi was a consummate journalist and public relations expert who had a distinguished public service career. He had the rare privilege of serving four former governors of Oyo State with distinction as Press Secretary.

“Besides being a veteran journalist and renowned public relations practitioner, he was also a cultural icon. His appearance, conduct and character spoke volumes about his passion for culture and tradition.

“He was also the Cultural Ambassador of the Source in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Oloye Alabi was particularly close to the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.”

The President commiserated with Alabi’s immediate family, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Ladoja, and the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, over this great loss.

He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and strength for his family as his remains are laid to rest on Sunday in Ibadan in accordance with Islamic rites.
