TIMI ZIRIKI CELEBRATES DR. SAMUEL OGBUKU AT 50 WITH SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING FOR WOMEN

In a remarkable demonstration of vision, compassion, and commitment to human capital development, renowned nationalist and human capital strategist, Timi Ziriki, has once again proven that the empowerment of persons with disabilities must remain a priority in building an inclusive and prosperous society.

In honour of the 50th birthday celebration of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ziriki convened a three-day skills acquisition training for fifty (50) women with disabilities in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. The event, which climaxed on the 16th of August 2025 at Government Secondary School Yenizue-Epie, Saptex Junction, by the expressway, was filled with emotion, inspiration, and renewed hope.

Speaking passionately at the grand finale, Timi Ziriki underscored her unwavering belief in the abilities and potentials of persons with disabilities, stating that their status should never be regarded as a limitation. “Your status is not a disadvantage, but a strength hidden within you. The world is waiting to see it manifest. You are the next set of world changers this nation is seeking,” she declared to resounding applause.

For Ziriki, the empowerment of women with disabilities is not charity, but a matter of justice, rights, and recognition of human dignity. She has consistently advocated for the protection of their rights in line with international conventions, treaties, and Nigeria’s municipal laws. She noted that persons with disabilities must be accorded the full privileges to which they are entitled as humans, and must be enabled to contribute meaningfully to society.

“I believe strongly in your capabilities and strengths,” she added, “and I am convinced that if given the necessary support, you will not only thrive but also become heralds of positive change in our communities, our nation, and the world at large.”

The training initiative was particularly significant as it coincided with the golden jubilee of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, whom Ziriki described as a man whose life radiates light, hope, and solutions. According to her, “Dr. Ogbuku is a beacon of hope to the entire Niger Delta. His transformational leadership at the NDDC has redefined possibilities and ignited a fresh wave of confidence in our region. His life is a testimony of impact and influence, and it deserves to be celebrated in ways that inspire others to greatness.”

The 50 women who participated in the program were trained in various entrepreneurial skills designed to foster self-reliance and socio-economic inclusion. Participants expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the initiative as a life-changing opportunity and a step toward financial independence.

Ziriki, while urging the beneficiaries to pursue their individual purposes with renewed determination, encouraged them to consistently engage in activities that affirm their worth and dignity. “You must see yourselves as important, influential members of society. You are not to be pitied, but to be respected. The world needs what you carry within,” she charged.

The event, beyond its immediate impact, symbolized a fusion of leadership and service, honouring a leader who inspires while empowering a group often overlooked in national development discourse.

As the program drew to a close, Ziriki offered her heartfelt wishes to the celebrant. “On this occasion of your 50th birthday, I congratulate you, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku. May you continue to enjoy many more years of impact, wisdom, and greater accomplishments. The Niger Delta and indeed Nigeria are better because of your leadership,” she said.

The occasion, powered by Timi Ziriki, left indelible impressions on the hearts of participants and onlookers alike, highlighting once again the power of intentional investment in people. For Ziriki, the journey of human capital development, especially for persons with disabilities is not a fleeting passion but a lifelong mission anchored on justice, equality, and empowerment.
