This decision was reached following the circulation of several viral videos on social media showing Osawaru involved in a public confrontation with her husband, popularly known as singer 2Face. The incidents, which attracted widespread public attention, have been described by the Assembly as conduct capable of bringing the legislature into disrepute.
In a statement issued after plenary, the leadership of the House emphasized that lawmakers are expected to uphold the highest standards of personal and public conduct, noting that any action capable of tarnishing the image of the institution must be thoroughly investigated. The Ethics and Privileges Committee has therefore been mandated to invite Osawaru to provide explanations regarding the events captured in the videos and to clarify her role in the incidents.
The House further stated that it remains committed to maintaining discipline, preserving public trust, and ensuring that all elected officials conduct themselves in a manner befitting their office. Osawaru is expected to appear before the committee within seven days to respond to the allegations and assist the panel in its fact-finding process.
