Terrorist Attack on Plateau Village Leaves Three Dead, One Wounded

A midnight raid by armed terrorists on Pwomol Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has left three youths dead, according to reports from the area. The attack, which took place around midnight, specifically targeted the village's vigilante youths who were on watch.

The assault marks the second time the community has come under attack within a single week, sparking concerns over the safety of residents. One person also sustained critical injuries in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.

Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, confirmed the incident and provided details of the security response. He revealed that security operatives apprehended a suspected attacker around 1:00 a.m. near the Redemption Camp area, located between Heipang and Kassa.

The suspect, found with bloodstains on his body, is now in the custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi, where he is being held for further investigation. The swift arrest is seen as a positive step towards bringing those responsible for the attack to justice.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association, under the leadership of its National President, Dalyop Mwantiri, has strongly condemned the attack and urged security agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation. The association is demanding that the arrested suspect be promptly prosecuted and compelled to reveal information about his accomplices and collaborators.

The BYM has commended the Special Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, for their swift intervention in the aftermath of the attack, and is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
