Teenager fatally knifed by companion in Ondo

In Ondo State, the Police Command has apprehended an individual named Johnson in connection with the alleged fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Timilehin in Owo, within the Owo Local Government Area.

According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command's spokesperson, this information was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure, under the jurisdiction of Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was stabbed during a heated argument with the suspect, as revealed by Jimoh.

The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin, which occurred following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026.

Timilehin was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, where a medical doctor confirmed his death upon arrival.

Police detectives visited the scene of the incident and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack, while the suspect is currently in custody.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, as stated by Jimoh.

The command's spokesperson extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged the public to resolve disputes peacefully, without resorting to violence.

It has been gathered that the two young men, Johnson and Timilehin, were known to be close friends and frequently seen together in the neighbourhood, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
