Task force reads riot act to Zamfara private hospitals

Private healthcare providers in Zamfara state have been urged to improve compliance with established health regulations and standards to enhance quality healthcare service delivery across the state.

Zamfara State Task Force Committee on Private Health Facilities gave the warning during an inspection of some heath facilities in Gusau, the state capital.

The co-chairman of the committee and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rilwanu Musa Zurmi, issued the warning during the first day of an inspection exercise.

He said the exercise was aimed at assessing the level of compliance with government regulations and ensuring that private health facilities operate in line with approved standards.

The committee inspected eight private health facilities, namely Hilal Specialist Hospital, First Care Multi Specialist Hospital, Freedom Medical Laboratory, Poly Hospital, Daula Hospital and Maternity Home, Shukura Medical Clinic, Amsaf Specialist Hospital, and Godiya Hospital.

Areas inspected included registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), registration with the Ministry of Health, licence renewal, infrastructure, availability of qualified personnel, data management systems, labour rooms, theatre rooms, laboratories, pharmacies, wards, and biomedical waste management practices.

Speaking during the inspection, Mr Zurmi urged facility owners and managers to address identified shortcomings and ensure full compliance with operational guidelines.
