Son of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to Run for House of Representatives Seat on All Progressives Congress Ticket

Yusuf Buhari, the son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, announced his candidacy for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on Thursday, with the goal of winning the position in the 2027 election.
nHe intends to run on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, marking his entry into the political arena with a significant bid for office.
nYusuf made his declaration in Daura, where he addressed party stakeholders and supporters, having previously visited Gov. Dikko Radda in Katsina on Wednesday to secure his backing.
nDuring his declaration, Yusuf stated, "I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing.
nHe also expressed gratitude to those in attendance, saying, "I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support."
nAlhaji Musa Haro, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, spoke at the event and urged support for Yusuf's candidacy, stating, "We are here to ask for your support for our brother."
nHaro outlined the campaign's strategy, saying, "We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support," and also plans to collaborate with other aspirants vying for the same seat.
nHe acknowledged the efforts of the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, noting that "nobody can do 100 per cent" in politics, a nod to the complexities of the role.
nYusuf was joined at the event by Fatuhu Muhammad, a former member representing the constituency, as well as other family members who came to show their support.
nThe Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat that Yusuf Buhari is seeking to win is currently held by Aminu Jamo.
