Son of Kwankwaso quits New Nigeria Peoples Party, set to defect to African Democratic Congress

Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate, has tendered his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party, marking a significant shift in his political allegiance as he prepares to join the African Democratic Congress.

This development was made public by Kwankwaso through a statement posted on his Facebook handle on Monday, in which he affirmed that his decision to exit the NNPP was both thoughtful and intentional.

Kwankwaso declared, "I want to inform the general public that as of today, I have officially resigned my membership from the New Nigeria People’s Party," thereby confirming his departure from the party.

He is presently undergoing the process of joining the ADC, and has expressed enthusiasm about the prospects of his political career in its new phase.

According to Kwankwaso, his decision to support the ADC is motivated by his conviction that the party has the potential to bring about substantial change in Nigeria, especially in Kano State.

The ADC's ideology and principles, Kwankwaso noted, offer a viable foundation for promoting effective governance, economic expansion, and enhanced citizen welfare.
