Soludo Takes Oath of Office for Another Term

Professor Charles Soludo has commenced his second term as Governor of Anambra State, marking a new chapter in the state's governance.

Soludo took the oath of office during an inauguration ceremony held at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by a multitude of prominent political figures from across Nigeria, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented the Federal Government.

Former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were also present, lending their support to the newly inaugurated governor.

Other notable attendees included former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and several other governors.

Soludo's return to office comes on the heels of a resounding victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, in which he secured 422,664 votes.

His closest competitor, the All Progressives Congress candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, trailed behind with 99,445 votes, while the Young Progressives Party's Sir Paul Chukwuma came third with 37,753 votes.

A total of 16 candidates from various political parties participated in the election, which saw Soludo emerge as the clear winner.

Soludo's dominance in the election was further underscored by his sweep of all 21 local government areas of the state.

Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with a total of 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected across the state.
