Soldiers thwart militant assault on Mallam Fatori, eliminate more than 60 insurgents

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully thwarted a coordinated attempt by ISWAP terrorists to infiltrate Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno, resulting in the deaths of at least 60 terrorists.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening, was launched against the 68 Battalion, Mobile Defence Area, with the terrorists originating from the Duguri General Area and targeting the frontage of Bravo Company, utilizing armed drones while on foot.

The Joint Task Force (JTF), in collaboration with air assets, swiftly countered the drones and forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray towards the Arege General Area, according to an operational report made available on Wednesday.

Initial assessments from the operation indicate that over 60 terrorists were neutralized, while four soldiers sustained minor injuries, as stated in the report.

Follow-up intelligence and surveillance operations are currently ongoing, with six suspected terrorist groups spotted moving towards Arege, and plans are in place to exploit the area and consolidate gains to prevent further attacks.
