Seyi Tinubu affirms City Boy Movement's dedication to advancing the nation's progress.

Seyi Tinubu, Patron of the City Boy Movement, has underscored the organisation's transformation into a nationwide movement dedicated to national development and citizen engagement, transcending its initial role as a campaign platform.

This evolution was a dominant theme on the first day of the City Boy Movement National Retreat in Abuja, where speakers emphasized the need for robust grassroots engagement, increased youth participation, and sustained public support for ongoing national reforms.

At the retreat's opening dinner, held at the State House, Seyi Tinubu addressed participants, noting that the organisation has become a catalyst for positive change, with members committed to the service of Nigeria and the advancement of the Renewed Hope vision.

Otega Ogra, Deputy Director-General, Media, Communications and Public Affairs, quoted Seyi Tinubu as stating that the retreat marked the beginning of a movement, where individuals from across the country had come together to dedicate their time, energy, and talents to the development of Nigeria.

Seyi Tinubu commended members who travelled from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, praising their selfless leadership and commitment to a cause greater than themselves, which he described as the true spirit of leadership.

The City Boy Movement, according to Seyi Tinubu, has established itself as a strong family foundation, a national network of patriots, and a symbol of resilience, loyalty, and purposeful engagement, with members continuing to mobilise volunteers, promote democratic values, and encourage youth participation in governance.

However, Seyi Tinubu cautioned members against complacency, stressing that the organisation has only scratched the surface of its goals and that its greatest victory lies ahead, with the retreat serving as preparation for the challenges to come.

Regarding the Tinubu administration's reforms, Seyi Tinubu acknowledged the serious economic and security challenges inherited by President Bola Tinubu, but noted that bold policies have been initiated to stabilise the economy, improve public finances, and expand infrastructure, among other initiatives.

He urged members to communicate government policies with empathy and facts, recognising that many Nigerians are still experiencing the impact of the reforms, and that progress is beginning to emerge, requiring responsible, factual, and compassionate engagement.

Seyi Tinubu challenged members to deepen grassroots engagement across various sectors, including wards, local governments, markets, campuses, and communities, with the goal of reconnecting Nigerians with the government.

Francis Shoga, Director-General of the City Boy Movement, announced that the organisation aims to secure 10 million youth votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election through sustained grassroots mobilisation, which he emphasized would require hard work and real engagement at the community level.

Shoga urged members to build a disciplined and results-driven organisation capable of educating Nigerians on government policies and mobilising support at the grassroots level.

Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, commended the City Boy Movement for promoting patriotism, unity, and responsible citizenship, describing nation-building as a shared responsibility.

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Capital Territory Administration's commitment to delivering improved infrastructure, enhanced security, and better public services, in line with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike.

Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, stated that the time has come for young Nigerians to have their voices heard in shaping the country's future, urging them to become active participants in governance, leadership, and national development.

The retreat, which brought together City Boy Movement leaders, state coordinators, and members from across the federation, aimed to review the organisation's activities and strengthen strategies for grassroots mobilisation and civic engagement.

In his vote of thanks, Kashim Shettima Jnr, Co-Patron of the City Boy Movement and son of Vice President Kashim Shettima, expressed appreciation to members, guests, and stakeholders who attended the retreat dinner, describing the City Boy Movement as the biggest youth political movement in Africa.

Kashim Shettima Jnr urged members to remain united, committed, and focused on expanding the movement's grassroots reach in support of national development and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
