Security agents apprehend alleged firearms trafficker, seize large cache of 832 bullets

In a targeted operation on Monday, operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended a suspected gunrunner, Kelvin Ebikeniye Dugo, at Ivara Esu Estate in Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State.

According to security sources, the arrest was made possible by credible intelligence regarding Dugo's intentions to purchase 832 rounds of live ammunition from Azenda Barnabas, also known as Jagaban, another suspected gunrunner based in Aliade, Benue State.

The DSS operatives successfully intercepted Dugo immediately after he received the consignment, which had been cleverly hidden in food items, and subsequently recovered 832 rounds of ammunition and two empty AK-47 magazines.

The DSS has stepped up its efforts to track down such individuals, initiating sustained operations across all states in the Federation to combat gun running and arms proliferation.

This latest operation is part of a broader nationwide crackdown, underscoring the DSS' unwavering commitment to dismantling gun running syndicates and curbing the illicit spread of arms, as stated by a security source.
