Sanwo-Olu urges citizens to back Tinubu and law enforcement in fight against terrorism

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to stand together and back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation's security agencies as they tackle terrorism and other security threats across the country.

This appeal was made in a statement on Sunday, in which Sanwo-Olu reacted to the recent spate of security incidents in various parts of the country, describing these attacks as unfortunate but ultimately surmountable.

According to the governor, Nigerians must not permit the actions of criminal elements to undermine their resolve or erode their confidence in the nation's future, emphasizing that the country's collective will is strong and its spirit unbreakable.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that this is a time for Nigerians to unite behind their leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the armed forces, adding that the nation's unity is crucial in the face of the current security challenges.

The governor noted that terrorists and other criminal elements do not discriminate based on political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion when carrying out attacks, and therefore, national support for security efforts should also transcend partisan considerations.

He emphasized that the enemies of the nation do not consider political leanings before striking, and as such, the resolve and support for the nation should be devoid of political biases and divisive rhetoric.

Sanwo-Olu expressed his sympathy for the victims of the recent attacks and urged Nigerians to keep the affected communities in their prayers, stating that every life lost is a tragedy and every community threatened by violence deserves solidarity, support, and protection.

The governor also called for prayers and support for the teachers and students abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, highlighting the need for collective support during these challenging times.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current security challenges, just as it had overcome numerous economic, political, and social difficulties throughout its history, thanks to the resilience, courage, and unity of its people.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and to actively support security agencies by sharing intelligence and cooperating with lawful authorities, as the government alone cannot win the battle against insecurity without the support of local communities.

The governor reaffirmed his confidence in President Tinubu and the security institutions, stating that efforts to strengthen intelligence gathering and dismantle criminal networks would yield positive results and ultimately lead to the defeat of the forces of evil.

Sanwo-Olu commended the members of the armed forces and other security personnel for their sacrifices in defence of the nation, urging Nigerians to continue supporting them through prayers and encouragement.

The governor emphasized that lasting solutions to security challenges require patience, determination, and national unity, and that progress is achievable when citizens stand firmly behind those charged with protecting the country.

As Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu expressed his conviction that the country's best days are still ahead, and that the current challenges should not define the nation, but rather how it responds to them with courage, unity, and hope.

He urged young Nigerians to remain hopeful, families and communities to remain resilient, and security personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties, stating that the collective strength of the people is greater than the evil agenda of those bent on spreading fear and despair.

Sanwo-Olu concluded by saying that the battle against insecurity will be won, and Nigeria will prevail, thanks to the collective strength of its people.
