Sanwo-Olu reiterates pledge to reduce government spending

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has underscored his administration's dedication to streamlining governance costs and bolstering cooperation among agencies through the development of sustainable office infrastructure for civil servants in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Governor's commitment was reaffirmed during his inspection of the Multi-Agency Complex Office and the Geographical Information System (LAGIS) Centre at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, where he announced that the projects are slated for completion by September.

The initiatives aim to decrease expenditures on rental premises and consolidate state parastatals within the Secretariat area, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

The Multi-Agency Complex spans 2.01 hectares and comprises three blocks - A, B, and C, with Block B boasting eight floors, while blocks A and C each feature five floors, accompanied by penthouses designated for conferencing purposes.

The lower floors of each block are allocated for parking, whereas the upper floors are reserved for office space, demonstrating a thoughtful use of space.

According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, "The multi-agency office complex is virtually completed, with only minor finishing touches, setbacks, and landscaping remaining to be addressed."

He expressed satisfaction with the contractors' work, anticipating that the final cleanup would be completed within a few weeks, marking a significant milestone in the project's timeline.

Regarding the LAGIS Centre, Governor Sanwo-Olu described it as a unique facility designed to support interspatial and GIS deliverables, forming part of the administration's solutions to land administration, and expected to be ready within two to three weeks.

The Governor also hinted at an impending presidential visit, during which these projects may be showcased as exemplary achievements of his administration.

Reiterating his focus on reducing governance costs, Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of providing civil servants with high-quality working environments and ensuring that citizens have access to services in conducive, well-maintained spaces.

The facilities boast an array of amenities, including elevators, staircases, reception lobbies, canteens, kitchens, conference rooms on penthouse floors, central air conditioning, a fully equipped generator house, landscaped surroundings, paved and covered drains, perimeter fencing, suspended milling arcades, and parking for over 700 vehicles.
