Sallah: FRSC Cautions Ogun Drivers to Prioritize Highway Safety

The Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has issued a warning to motorists to avoid speeding, overloading, and drunk driving in order to minimize road traffic crashes during the Sallah festivities and beyond.

Mr Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Sector Commander, offered this advice on Tuesday during a public enlightenment rally and road show for motorists at Panseke motor park and other parks in Abeokuta.

The sensitisation campaign, which included a road show and public enlightenment rally, aimed to promote responsible driving and reduce road traffic crashes during the festive period, according to Fasakin.

Deputy Corps Commander Samuel Ogundayo, who represented the sector commander as the Sector Head of Operations, stated that the initiative was designed to educate motorists on the importance of obeying traffic regulations.

The campaign's objective is to decrease the risk of accidents on roads that are expected to experience increased vehicular movement during the celebration, according to the sector commander.

Fasakin stressed the dangers of speeding, overloading, and drunk driving, referring to speed as a "silent killer".

The campaign is part of the FRSC's advocacy and public enlightenment efforts, with the goal of raising awareness among motorists about the risks associated with speeding, overloading, and drinking while driving.

The ultimate goal of the FRSC is to create a safe motoring environment for everyone in Ogun, where every traveller can reach their destination safely and celebrate the festive season with their families.

Fasakin also cautioned drivers against committing other traffic offences that can lead to road crashes, including dangerous overtaking, using mobile phones while driving, and driving while fatigued.

The campaign is in line with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters to intensify public enlightenment during festive periods when road traffic typically increases.

The FRSC has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing road traffic crashes through sustained public education and community outreach across the state, according to Fasakin.
