Rocket attack from Iran wounds multiple individuals in Israeli territory

On Sunday, at least eight people were injured in Israel due to repeated missile launches from Iran, with at least two of these missiles containing cluster munitions, as confirmed by Israeli authorities.

Israeli police released CCTV footage from the Tel Aviv area, showing the impact of a missile on a road, which they attributed to "cluster munitions" that caused damage in multiple locations.

The Magen David Adom rescue service reported that four people were wounded by bomblets and shrapnel from the missile in various parts of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.

A 60-year-old man was hospitalized with moderate head injuries from broken glass, while three others were treated for shock waves caused by the blast.

In a separate barrage that occurred shortly before noon, two men, aged 62 and 44, suffered minor injuries from pieces of asphalt that struck them as a result of the blast, according to the MDA.

Around 3:00 am, a man and a woman in their 80s sustained light injuries from glass shards and smoke inhalation, respectively, during a salvo directed at the Tel Aviv area.

An Iranian missile aimed at the southern city of Eilat was intercepted before reaching its target, resulting in no injuries, with the municipality quoting security sources as saying it was a cluster missile.

By late Sunday morning, a total of seven missile salvos had been launched from Iran toward Israel, with some being intercepted.

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused Iran of targeting civilian areas during a visit to the northern Arab Israeli town of Zarzir, which was hit by shrapnel from an Iranian missile two days prior, lightly wounding nearly 60 residents.

Saar stated, "While we are targeting military objectives, the Iranian regime is targeting civilians," and added, "All the casualties we faced during these two weeks of confrontation are civilians from Iranian missiles, which is a war crime."

Police superintendent Shlomi Schlezinger echoed Saar's words, saying Iran "always targets crowded places, with people, the big major cities," while speaking near the site of one of the impacts on Sunday.

Schlezinger attributed the relatively low number of Israeli casualties to civilians' adherence to safety instructions, noting "we have a lot of collateral damage to cars and buildings, as you can see."

He also mentioned that Israelis have grown accustomed to seeking shelter and safe rooms when alarms sound, as they have been doing for the past 16 days.

According to security officials cited by Haaretz, as of March 13, Iran had fired 250 ballistic missiles at Israel.

Since the start of the war, 12 people have been killed in Israel by missiles or falling debris, according to an AFP tally of figures given by Israeli authorities and first responders.
