Renowned Nigerian Film Star Solomon Akiyesi Passes Away Following Short Battle with Sickness

Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi has passed away in his sleep following a brief illness, sending shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry.

The news of his death was confirmed by Mr. Yakub Abubakar, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), who revealed that Akiyesi had complained of chest pain the night before his death.

According to Akiyesi's daughter, he was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with an ulcer and prescribed medication, but he did not wake up the next morning after returning home and going to sleep.

As reported by the AGN president, Akiyesi's wife attempted to rouse him at around 4 a.m., but he did not respond, marking a tragic end to the actor's life.

The AGN president described Akiyesi's death as a significant loss to the industry, and the guild is currently mourning alongside his family, with his remains deposited in a morgue in Abuja, where he passed away.

Colleagues of Akiyesi have taken to social media to pay their respects, remembering him as a talented actor who made a lasting impact with his performances, with actress Celestina Dovigalle recalling his lively and energetic presence on set.

Akiyesi was known for his roles in various films, including Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, Bridge of Contract, Heart of a Saint, Marry Who You Love (2016), Gen Z Wife (2024), and Accidentally Us (2025), showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Originally from Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Akiyesi began his career in Nollywood in the late 1990s and went on to feature in over 100 films, earning recognition as both an actor and producer.
