Qatar expels Iranian envoys following assault on natural gas installation
Qatar's foreign ministry issued a directive on Wednesday, giving Iran's military and security attaches, along with their staff, a 24-hour ultimatum to vacate the country after a recent attack on a major natural gas facility.
nThe ministry's order, announced via social media, declared that both the military and security attaches at the Iranian embassy, as well as their staff, were persona non grata and must depart Qatar's territory within 24 hours.
nThe ministry's statement explicitly outlined the scope of the order, encompassing all personnel working in the two attache offices, in addition to the attaches themselves.
nThe decision to expel the Iranian diplomats and staff was made in response to the attack on Qatar's massive natural gas facility, according to the foreign ministry's social media post.
nAFP reported on the developments, citing the foreign ministry's announcement, which marked a significant escalation in tensions between Qatar and Iran.
