President Tinubu orders top security officials to move to Maiduguri amid rising terrorist assaults

President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to security chiefs, instructing them to relocate to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, to oversee the security situation in the wake of recent terror attacks.

The president has also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ramping up efforts against all criminal elements, regardless of their location, in a bid to restore peace and stability.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, President Tinubu expressed deep distress over the recent news emanating from Maiduguri, conveying his condolences to those who have lost their lives and offering sympathy to the injured.

The president further extended his solidarity to the people of Borno, acknowledging the difficulties they are facing and assuring them of his support during this challenging period.

President Tinubu stated that the recent terror attacks are a desperate attempt by criminal and terrorist elements to spread fear, as they are currently under intense pressure from the nation's armed forces and security agencies.

He emphasized that his administration will continue to intensify its efforts against all criminal elements, wherever they may be, and praised the bravery and fighting spirit of the nation's troops who successfully repelled the coordinated attacks by terrorists on military positions in the state.

According to President Tinubu, the Monday attacks were the actions of evil-minded terrorist groups, and he assured that the military and civilian task forces will work to curtail and defeat them.

He recalled that during a security meeting with leaders of security and intelligence agencies just last weekend, he approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance their capabilities, an effort that is already underway.

Furthermore, President Tinubu announced that he has directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation and has also instructed emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured.

The president asserted that there is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will be able to find safety, and he vowed that they will be located, confronted, and completely defeated, stating that Nigeria will not succumb to fear.
