Police in Delta State apprehend over 270 individuals, confiscate illicit substances in raids on Warri and Ughelli

Delta State — The Delta State Police Command has arrested over 270 criminal suspects and recovered large quantities of drugs in coordinated raids across Warri, Uvwie, Jeddo, and Ughelli, the command announced.

According to SP Bright Edafe, Police Spokesman, the operations were intelligence-driven, targeting identified black spots and criminal hideouts.

“On 25th March 2026, operatives led by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi conducted raids across Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas, covering Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities,” Edafe said. “Fifty-nine suspects, including 51 males and 8 females, were arrested. Recovered substances included codeine, crack cocaine, ‘loud,’ ‘colos,’ and Indian hemp.”

He added that many of the targeted hotels operated as brothels and served as havens for criminal elements and suspected cultists.

In a related operation on 26th March 2026, DCP Adejobi led raids in Ughelli, targeting locations notorious for drug-related activities, including Epini Hotel, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House. The raid resulted in 213 arrests, with drugs recovered including Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp.

All suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the appropriate police units for investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police reassured the public that all culpable individuals would face the law, while urging citizens to provide timely and credible information to aid crime prevention.
