The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Disu, has reiterated his dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment during the Eid el-Fitr festivities by instructing Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders nationwide to put in place comprehensive security measures.
This directive encompasses the deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure across the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who made this announcement on Friday, the IGP has ordered increased police presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces to guarantee peaceful celebrations.
The operational measures include strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives, as outlined by the Force Public Relations Officer.
The IGP has also mandated heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties to proactively deter criminal activities and ensure swift responses to emerging threats.
IGP Olatunji Disu has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
