Police arrest Niger fugitive over alleged murder of business partner

The Kebbi State Police Command has said that it has arrested a fugitive wanted in Niger for allegedly stabbing his compatriot and business partner to death.

Kebbi Police Command image maker, SP Bashir Usman, in a statement on Friday, stated that the fugitive, identified as Masaudu Saidu, allegedly used a knife to stab his 38-year-old Nigerian business partner, Masaudu Sani.

Bashir added that after allegedly committing the murder, the Nigerian tailor fled Niger and returned to Nigeria, his home country, to evade arrest.

The statement further added that following his declaration as a wanted criminal by Niger authorities, the Nigerian Police began a search for him and he was subsequently arrested at Gulma Town in the Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

“Yes, we have arrested a fugitive wanted in Niger Republic for stabbing his business partner to death in Niger Republic. we are currently investigating him,” Usman said.

The Police urged Nigerian nationals in other countries to exhibit good character and to desist from denting the image of the country, adding that the law can catch up with any suspect no matter how long one hides.
