Police arrest man over mother’s murder in Osun

The Osun State Police command on Wednesday disclosed that it arrested one Taye Kasali for allegedly killing his mother, Mrs Kudirat Kasali over farm dispute.

A statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi disclosed that the police in Bode-Osi in Ola-Oluwa local government received report that the deceased and her son were missing on September 1, 2026.

Following the report, operatives from the command embarked on investigation and intelligence led to the arrest of the son, Taye, on September 7, 2026, and later confessed to killing his mother.

The suspect led the police team to the farm where the body of his mother was recovered from a shallow grave along with the matchet used to slit the deceased’s throat before burying her.

The statement disclosed that his mother had been referring to him as a mad person and threatening to lease out the farmland which the suspect claimed is the family’s source of income.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura has directed thorough investigation into the incident with view to charging him to court to face the wrath of he law.

He also assured the residents of the State that Justice will be served in the case, urging the public to always report the cases of missing persons promptly to police as well s other criminal activities in their communities.
