Plateau Violence: Organization Calls on Mutfwang to Make Inquiry Report Public

The Plateau State Government is being pressed to issue a white paper on the recent instances of community killings and attacks that have plagued the state, with the Plateau State Executive Peace Roundtable making this call on Sunday.

This appeal was made under the umbrella of the Delimi Prosper Project, with the details of the call made available to the press following a meeting held in Jos.

In recent weeks, Plateau State has witnessed a surge in community attacks, resulting in significant loss of life and destruction of property.

A communiqué signed by Nanmak Bali outlined the discussions held by the roundtable, which focused on the perspectives and experiences of youths regarding non-kinetic and preventive approaches to resource-related conflicts.

The roundtable resolved that the government should release and implement a white paper addressing the attacks, as stated in the communiqué.

The communiqué further emphasized the need for inclusiveness in conversations and solutions, while also expressing concerns over the use of digital space.

Among the proposed solutions, the release and implementation of white papers by the government were highlighted as key measures.

The meeting, which was attended by prominent government officials including Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, and Julie Sanda, the Director-General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, also recommended the adoption of community policing and dialogue.

Other recommendations included engaging regulatory agencies to address breaches and leveraging digital platforms to create galleries and museums that tell community stories.
