Plateau State Law Enforcement Apprehends 21 Alleged Cult Members, Detains Individual Spreading Misinformation on TikTok

Operatives from the Plateau State Police Command have apprehended 21 suspected cult members affiliated with the notorious Sara-Suka syndicate, which has been wreaking havoc on innocent residents in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, as well as a teenage social media influencer accused of disseminating false information that could spark chaos in the state.

The arrests were carried out as part of intensified security operations initiated by Commissioner of Police CP Bassey Ewah, aimed at curbing crime and ensuring peaceful celebrations during the ongoing Ramadan period.

The police command, in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, on Saturday, revealed that the suspects were apprehended at various locations across the metropolis following increased patrol and raid operations ordered by CP Ewah and executed by Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team leaders.

The 21 suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will soon face prosecution in court upon conclusion of inquiries.

A viral TikTok video containing inciting comments aimed at causing public disorder in the state led to the arrest of its originator, with the police apprehending 16-year-old Mohammed Shuaibu Adam, owner of the TikTok handle @townboii1, and his accomplice, 19-year-old Auwal Ilyas Abdullahi, both residents of Rikkos, Jos.

During interrogation, the duo reportedly confessed to the offence, and they will be charged to court once investigations are completed.

CP Ewah commended the efforts of officers who worked tirelessly to effect the arrests and urged them to sustain the momentum in flushing out criminal elements from the state.

He assured residents of Plateau State of the command’s unwavering commitment to their safety, calling on them to remain calm, go about their lawful activities without fear, and report suspicious movements promptly.
