Plateau relaxes curfew in Jos North as relative peace returns

Jos – The Plateau State Government has further relaxed the curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following the deadly attacks at Angwan Rukuba.

Effective Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the curfew will now be observed only from 6pm to 6am daily (dusk to dawn), while residents are free to go about their lawful activities between 6am and 6pm.

The adjustment was announced in a press release issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, on Tuesday.

“Following the relative peace being experienced in Jos North Local Government Area after the attacks at Angwan Rukuba, the government in consultation with security agencies, has further relaxed the curfew hours earlier imposed on Jos North LGA,” the statement reads .

It added that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has directed all security agencies to strictly enforce the curfew during the restricted hours to protect lives and property and restore lasting calm in the affected areas.

The statement urges residents to remain indoors during curfew hours, to cooperate fully with security personnel, and to provide useful information that could help maintain peace and order.

Our correspondent reports that the latest relaxation follows an earlier easing of the initial 48-hour total curfew imposed after the Angwan Rukuba attacks that claimed 33 persons.
