Plateau Governor visits Angwan Rukuba after deadly attack, vows justice

JOS — Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the scene of Sunday night’s deadly attack on Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area on Monday, offering condolences to bereaved families and promising swift justice for the victims.

Visibly moved, Governor Mutfwang said he had “not been able to sleep” since learning of the attack, which left several people dead and many others injured. He described the assault as a “heinous and evil act,” adding that the magnitude of the loss left him heartbroken.

The governor assured residents that his administration would ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted without delay. He also announced that the state government would organize a befitting burial for the deceased and cover the medical bills of all injured victims currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

Governor Mutfwang appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to collaborate with the government in addressing the state’s security challenges. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace, strengthening security architecture, and fostering unity across Plateau State.

The attack, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, prompted the state government to impose a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area to restore order. Security agencies have since intensified operations in the area.
