Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday presented official vehicles to Level 17 officers in the state public service, describing the gesture as a practical step to improve service delivery across the state’s bureaucracy.
Sanwo-Olu, who announced the presentation on his X handle, said the beneficiaries were directors who played key roles in how the state’s ministries, departments, and agencies delivered results.
He said supporting the officers with official vehicles was a deliberate decision to help them perform their duties more effectively.
” I presented new official vehicles to our Level 17 officers across the Lagos State Public Service. These are Directors who play a key role in how our Ministries, Departments, and Agencies deliver results. Supporting them is a practical step to help them do their work better.
“A motivated public service is at the heart of good governance. When people are properly equipped, they take more ownership, stay focused, and deliver with greater commitment,” he said.
The governor added that the exercise was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and raise performance standards across the system.
He said, “This is part of our ongoing effort to strengthen service delivery and raise the standard of performance across the system.”
Tuesday’s presentation marked the third time Sanwo-Olu was carrying out such an exercise for directors in the public service.
In January 2023, shortly after his re-election, he approved and distributed 100 brand-new vehicles to substantive Grade Level 17 directors, with allocations split across the teaching sector, the health sector, and the mainstream civil service.
In July 2024, another set of official vehicles was presented to directors at the State Secretariat in Alausa, with officials noting that the exercise would continue on a rotational basis so more directors could benefit over time.
Level 17 is the highest cadre in the Nigerian public service structure, occupied by directors who head departments and serve as the most senior career officers in government ministries and agencies.
