PFIPC: Adeyemi's Father Cries Out Over Multiple Police Raids On His Home

Pa Adetunji Adeniyi, the father of Adeyemi, the self-styled director-general of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, revealed that police operatives raided his home thrice in two days, causing destruction to his property, confiscating phones, and arresting him in their search for his son.

The raids occurred on Monday, with security personnel storming the family's residence in Ogbomoso, Osun State, and arresting Adeyemi's father, as well as a family friend who was visiting at the time.

National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, has called for the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to resign, citing the need for decorum in the face of serious allegations.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has challenged Adeyemi to stop evading scrutiny and provide evidence to support his allegations against Femi Gbajabiamila, rather than going into hiding.

Adeyemi, the embattled self-styled Director-General of the council, declared his readiness to cooperate fully with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, to investigate how the "ghost" agency secured a whopping N1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget.

President Bola Tinubu had issued a 30-day ultimatum to the ICPC to investigate the council, which the Presidency insisted is non-existent and completely fraudulent.

Activist and lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, reported the raid of senior Adeyemi's home to the public, stating that the police had stormed the house and arrested the father, questioning the legal basis for the substituted arrest.

Residents of the neighbourhood confirmed the incident, with Adeyemi's father later speaking to BBC Yoruba about the raid, describing how armed operatives scaled the fence and damaged the security wire before entering his compound.

According to Adeyemi's father, the operatives searched every part of his house, confiscating the family's mobile phones before leaving, and returning about 11:30p.m. the following day.

The senior Adeyemi stated that the operatives did not explain why his son was being sought, adding that he is unaware of Adeyemi's perceived wrong-doing, and that his son avoids trouble and has never been someone who fights or causes problems.

Security operatives questioned Adeyemi's father about his son's whereabouts, taking him into custody when he could not provide information about his son's address in Abuja.

The incident has left Adeyemi's father traumatised, with him expressing fear and concern for his son's well-being, and disputing the allegations against him.

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu ordered the ICPC to probe the younger Adeyemi and the agency he purportedly led, with the SDP National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, calling for Femi Gbajabiamila to step aside as Chief of Staff to the President.

Prof. Gombe argued that Gbajabiamila's position is untenable given the seriousness of the allegations, and that he should step aside to allow for a proper independent probe.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, told Adeyemi to stop running and prove his allegations against Gbajabiamila, suggesting that if the allegations are genuine, Adeyemi should confront the Chief of Staff and the security agencies directly.

Wike shared his own experience of being targeted by blackmailers, who falsely claimed his son had helped facilitate a payment involving government land, and stated that he would not settle such claims, instead choosing to investigate and prosecute them.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, called for the constitution of an independent panel of inquiry into the activities of PFIPC, with National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, arguing that the president cannot be a judge in his own case.

Abdullahi stated that the ADC is glad the president acknowledged the need for further investigation, but that an independent panel is necessary to ensure justice is seen to be done, and that anything short of this would be mere drama.
