Peter Obi and Victor Umeh formally join the ADC party in Anambra state

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has officially become a member of the African Democratic Congress in Anambra State, with his registration taking place in his hometown of Agulu, located in Anaocha Local Government Area.

Obi's registration was followed by that of Chief Victor Umeh, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, who also completed his registration and received his membership card at his country home in Aguluzigbo, within the same local government area.

Their registrations were attended by several key stakeholders, including Senator Ben Obi, Chinedu Idigo, the National Organizing Secretary of ADC, as well as Hon Afam Ogene and Peter Anekwe, members representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency and Anambra East/Anambra West Federal Constituency, respectively.

Additionally, Professor Lilian Orogbu, representing Awka South/Awka North Federal Constituency, was also present, along with John Nwosu, the party's candidate in the last November Anambra State governorship election, and his running mate, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu.

Hundreds of party members and supporters were also in attendance, with a total of 48,900 membership cards having been distributed to party leaders across the state's 21 local government areas prior to the registration exercise.

Party leaders, including Ben Obi, Umeh, and Orogbu, emphasized the need for aggressive mobilization of members to strengthen the party's structure, while also expressing their support for Obi's presidential bid in the 2027 general election.

Umeh noted that Anambra State boasts approximately 2.8 million registered voters, and urged them to support Obi's presidential ambition in 2027.

The National Organizing Secretary, Idigo, assured members that the party's national headquarters would provide additional membership cards to accommodate the growing number of prospective members.
